Follow one requirement all the way to the learner’s daily experience. The starting point is a focused question and evidence the team can use.
Start with the student experience
Choose a specific question: Can multilingual learners participate in meaningful academic conversation? Then examine the task, the language support, and who has the opportunity to speak. A completed process tells you something different from this classroom evidence.
Trace the support backward
Ask what the teacher needs to make the intended practice possible. At the campus level, this might be a coaching cycle or time to plan with a colleague. At the district level, it could be a clearer instructional expectation or a professional learning plan.
Make the next step observable
Replace “provide more training” with one concrete action: a team will plan and try a discussion routine, collect evidence of student participation, and revisit it at the next PLC. Name the owner, the date, and the evidence before the meeting ends.
Put the idea into practice.
Use the Beyond the Checkbox toolkit to plan your next step, or explore the three-tier framework with your team.
